The Texas Medical Board just went through sunset review, and their continuing legislation failed to pass during the regular legislative session. If the legislature hadn't passed the doctor's sunset bill during the special session, physicians were slated to become non-existent in the state of Texas.
CPAs will have their own sunset bill to pass next session. Only a strong CPA-PAC can prevent what happened to the doctors from happening to us.
The El Paso Chapter can do its part.
We invite you to support the TSCPA CPA-PAC and help El Paso constituents. Who we send to Austin matters and in order to be a viable city in the state, our representatives need to be our voice. They can only do that with our support and with the information we can provide. As CPAs of El Paso, we represent the business community. Our CPA-PAC contribution has enabled us to sit at the table, one on one, with representatives so we may bring issues directly to them. This educates them on how to vote for El Paso business issues. Our CPA-PAC contributions help influence the Texas Franchise Tax, property and inventory tax, and state funding for our El Paso community, both for profit and not for profit entities.
Of all the funds contributed to the CPA-PAC, 75 percent goes directly back to chapters for donation to their local lawmakers, while the remaining 25 percent is donated to candidates in campaigns for statewide office. Administrative expenses involved in CPA-PAC's day-to-day operations are underwritten by the Texas Society of CPAs.
Any and all contributions will help El Paso be heard and appreciated in Texas. Please consider making a donation to the CPA-PAC, which works to protect the profession and the public at large in the Legislature. Thank you.
